What is BoulderBot?

BoulderBot is a Mobile App for Home Wall and Spray Wall users.

It features a unique procedural generation algorithm, instantly creating infinite new climbs.

Additionally, it provides a full set of features for organizing your Climbs and keeping track of your progress.

How can I add my Wall?

The App provides a wizard which will guide you through all the necessary steps.

BoulderBot will ask you to provide a picture of your wall and additional details necessary for the algorithm (wall height, angle and positioning of the holds).

I am a Gym owner/staff member, how can I set up our Spray Wall in BoulderBot?

We would be happy to assist you in adding your Wall to the App!

Which climbing Walls are supported?

BoulderBot supports Spray Walls, Woodys and Training Boards.

The algorithm works best on flat homogeneous panels, with little variation, while complex 3D shapes like caves are not supported at the moment.

Which devices are supported?

BoulderBot is available for the following operating systems:

- Android (6.0+), on the Google Play Store

- iOS (14.0+), on the Apple Store

Both Smartphones and Tablets are supported.

Do the generated climbs require tuning?

Climbing is a very complex sport, and all machine learning algorithms have limitations.

The generated climbs do not reach the quality of human setters and often require adjustments, but they still are a great resource to increase the variety of climbs on your wall and to try out moves you would have not thought out by yourself.

Are variable angle walls supported?

It is currently not possible to change the angle of Walls, but variable angle support is in development and will be available soon.

In the meantime, we recommend selecting a commonly used angle (like 40°) when creating the Wall.

How can I check whether I am logged in?

To verify whether you have registered a BoulderBot account (necessary for synchronizing Walls, Climbs, LogBook entries and Pro Passes between multiple devices), open the main menu in the App.

If you see a 'User Profile' option, you are logged in, while if you see a 'Log In' button you are currently using the App without an account (in which case you can use that same button to register a new User).

How can I transfer my data to a new device?

Your Walls, Climbs and LogBook entries are tied to your BoulderBot account.

To transfer the data to another device, ensure you are logged in on your old device, then install the App on your new device and Log In with the same account.

How can I transfer a Pro Pass purchase to a new device?

Your Pro Pass is tied to your BoulderBot account.

To transfer the purchase to another device, ensure you are logged in on your old device, then install the App on your new device and Log In with the same account.

What happens when a Pro Pass expires?

Once a Pro Pass expires, the App will return to Free mode, and you will have the option of manually purchasing a new Pass (there will be no automatic renewals).

Even if you do not purchase a new Pass, you will still keep access to the Walls and Climbs you created while Pro mode was active.

Is an internet connection required?

Internet connectivity is optional, and is used only for downloading Walls or sharing your Walls/Climbs with friends.

Once you have downloaded/set up a Wall, BoulderBot can work fully offline.
